A 40-year-old Ham Lake man was sentenced by Anoka County District Court June 25 to two years probation for a domestic assault incident that took place in January.
Jason Andrew Scott was originally charged with felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor domestic assault. The felony charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. A 90-day jail term will be stayed for the next two years as long as Scott does not violate the terms of his probation.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a Ham Lake home in the 15100 block of Hastings St. N.E. on the evening of Jan. 11. A witness told deputies from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office that Scott was allegedly acting crazy and had threatened to kill all the people in the house because an 18-year-old family member wanted to use the car. He took a hunting knife from his pocket and pointed it at another person who was in the home.
Some of the terms of Scott’s probation is that he cannot possess any firearms or ammunition, he cannot consume or possess alcohol and he must complete a treatment program within 30 days of the sentencing date.
Scott was also fined $135.
