There is something for everyone at Andover’s Family Fun Fest. A 5K run, craft show, parade, the Minnesota Zoomobile and an Elvis impersonator are just a small sample of the activities on tap for this community festival.
Andover Family Fun Fest officially begins at 5 p.m. Friday, July 13 and ends with the fireworks show at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 14 at Sunshine Park.
Loads of family fun activities are jammed in between and you do not have to travel far to get to the different choices because all are concentrated in the civic center of the community next to the Andover YMCA/Community Center and Andover City Hall west of the Hanson and Crosstown boulevards intersection.
Be forewarned that Crosstown Boulevard between Hanson Boulevard and Andover Boulevard will be closed between approximately 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14 for the parade. The Crosstown Boulevard segment between Hanson Boulevard and Tower Drive (entrance to Andover YMCA/Community Center) will be closed throughout the two-day event.
Most of the activities are free, but there is a fee for some things such as the 5K fun run/walk, Magic Bounce Fun Zone and bingo.
Community booths, food vendors and a Lions club beer tent will be set up during most of the event, although they will not be open right away Saturday morning during the 5K and kids running events.
