Parade route set for Blaine July 4 parade

Blaine residents and those from surrounding communities are invited to either take part in or come out and enjoy the 3rd annual 4th of July parade in Blaine.

This year the starting place and disbanding area will be different than the past two years. This year all those taking part are to line up at 4 p.m. on Jefferson and 113th Ave. NE. The parade will kick off at 5 p.m., proceed down Jefferson street to Territorial, which is by the Madison school, where they will turn left and take Territorial, which turns into Polk, down to 89th Avenue, where the parade will then turn right and proceed to St. Timothy’s and the marchers will disband.

Senior citizens center groundbreaking part of celebration

A groundbreaking ceremony for Blaine’s new senior citizens center will be a part of the Blaine’s Blazin’ 4th activities over the weekend.

Senior citizens and city official will be present in Aquatore Park at 4 p.m. to break ground for the building which is to be constructed in a corner of the park. Construction is planned for completion by the middle of October.

Soccer month has arrived

And here we go again. It’s July and it’s USA Cup Tournament time in Blaine.

So what’s new? More teams for one.

When Cup play opens Monday morning, July 13, there will be more than 500 teams representing 31 states and 17 foreign countries. When play concludes Saturday, July 18, these teams will have completed about 1,250 games.
