The space program takes Tea Talk stage

America’s space program will be the topic of the Coon Rapids Senior Services monthly Tea Talk series Wednesday, July 18, 1:30 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Civic Center.

David Jones is presenter of “Apollo: Why We Went to the Moon.”

In 1961 President John F. Kennedy challenged Americans to go to the moon before the end of the decade and this challenge is often cited as the reason for the 1969 moon landing by American astronauts.

In his presentation, Jones will talk about other factors that were in place that made the moon landing a success, rather than a failure or not attempted at all.

Jones will discuss the goal itself and what helped accomplish the moon landing, rather than rocket launches and orbital mechanics.

Refreshments will be served following the program.

The cost is $3.
