Registrations are still being taken for the city of Coon Rapids’ annual child safety camp, which takes place Tuesday, July 24 and Wednesday, July 25 at Sand Creek Park.
The Coon Rapids fire and police departments are teaming up to teach kids a variety of skills to help them stay safe.
The camp is for children entering fourth- and fifth-grades this fall
Topics covered by the event include fire, water, bicycle, electrical and home safety.
There will also be sessions on first aid, wheelchair awareness, drug awareness and the use of the 911 system.
The camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, rain or shine.
The camp ends the evening of July 25 with a 7 p.m. graduation ceremony for the participants at the Coon Rapids High School Auditorium.
The registration fee of $40 per student covers lunches (McDonalds one day and pizza the other day) and snacks for both days, transportation to and from the swimming pool plus a T-shirt and a hat.
There are $15 scholarships available to 60 children who are recipients of the free or reduced lunch program.
