Summit set on development in the county

An economic development summit will take place in the Harvest Grill restaurant at Bunker Hills Golf Course Clubhouse, Coon Rapids, Wednesday, July 25.

The event is hosted by Anoka County United, a business group whose purpose is to facilitate commercial and industrial growth and development within the county.

“We welcome participation in the discussion as to how to spur economic development within the region and Anoka County,” said Eric Olson, chairperson, Anoka County United.

Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and program at noon.

There will be two speakers – Michael Langley of Greater MSP and David Olson, chief executive officer of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Langley will be discussing economic development efforts within the Twin Cities and specifically those impacting Anoka County, according to Olson.

Greater MSP is a private-public partnership whose mission is to stimulate economic growth and prosperity in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region, the Greater MSP website.

Its primary role is to be a value-added resource to all economic development organizations and activities throughout the region, with the goal of a brighter future for all residents of the region, according to the website.

Anoka County is a member of Greater MSP.

The cost to attend the summit is $20. RSVP to the MetroNorth Chamber of Commerce by e-mailing the chamber at info.metronorthchamber.org or by calling the chamber at 763-783-3553.

Support for the event is being provided by Connexus Energy and Northeast Bank.

Access to the Harvest Grill and the Bunker Hills Golf Course is via Foley Boulevard because Main Street is closed for construction.
