League of Women Voters to host forum for county board candidates

The ABC League of Women Voters will host an Anoka County Board candidate forum, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 24 at the community room at the Anoka County Government Center.

This is an opportunity to meet face to face the county board candidates in districts 1 and 2, who will be involved in primary elections Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The top two vote-getters in the primary election advance to the Tuesday, Nov. 6 general election.

Because this is a forum, not a debate, all candidates will answer written questions submitted by the audience.

Each candidate will also make opening and closing statements regarding their qualifications and positions. The forum will be taped for later viewing by CTN cable television.

All the candidates listed below have been invited to participate:

District 1: Dan Denno, Tom Gamec, Allison Lister and Matt Look.

District 2: Julie Braastad, Debbie Johnson, Mike Jungbauer and Andy Westerberg.

In the other four county board seats – districts 3, 5, 6 and 7 – on the ballot this year there are no primaries because only two candidates have filed for each seat.

County residents need to check their polling place postcards to check on their new districts and polling places.
