With the goal of improving the school climate for all students, the Anoka-Hennepin School District is seeking students and other community members to serve on the anti-bullying/anti-harassment task force.
This group is charged with advising the district on how best to foster a positive educational climate free of harassment and bullying. The task force will also include teachers and education specialists as well as school administrators.
The task force will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the last Thursday of each month, September through May (no meeting in December). Members will be expected to attend at least six meetings.
The task force will summarize its work in a written report for the school board next spring.
Community members interested in serving on the task force are asked to complete an application form, which is available on the district website at www.anoka.k12.mn.us/antibullyTF or by calling Carolyn Lakanen, student services department lead secretary, at 763-506-1076.
Mail applications to Jennifer Cherry, Title IX/equity coordinator, Educational Service Center, 2727 N. Ferry St., Anoka, MN 55303-1650, by Aug. 15.
Applications will be reviewed and members selected with the goal of ensuring a committee that is broadly representative of the district. The school board chairperson will make appointments in late August and those selected will be notified in early September.
For more information contact Cherry at 763-506-1120.
