Ridge, William Greenwald age 92, of Oak Grove MN, passed away peacefully on July 29 surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 3rd at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale St. NW. Oak Grove, MN.
Visitation prior to funeral mass begins at 9:30 am. A luncheon follows in the church hall.
William was born on June 9, 1920 in Anoka the eldest son to Wayne and Erma Ridge. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
William is survived by his wife Virginia, his children Rebecca (Alex), Jon (Judi) and Aaron, grandchildren Olivia, Noah, Isaak, his sister, Merrywayne Elvig, brother-in-law, Edward Mervich and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his brother Louis and sister Gertrude Elizabeth.
William served in WW II overseas in the Philippines. He retired as a Major after 22 years in the Army Reserve. He graduated from the University of Minnesota as a Civil engineer in 1947. His 35- year career included City Engineer positions in Anoka, St Cloud and Director of Engineering Operations for the City of Minneapolis.
William was the founding member of the Lake George Conservation Club, member of the American Legion and a proud Eagle Scout. His passion was living at Lake George where he died looking at his beloved land.
William will be remembered for his generous spirit, his strong work ethic, a warm sense of humor and his loving, devotion to his family.
