Unity Hospital has resilience training to help in recovery

Unity Hospital is now offering resilience training to help people recover from depression, anxiety and other conditions affected by stress.

Resilience training was created by Dr. Henry Emmons, a psychiatrist, author and leader in mental health at the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in 2007.

Based on integrative medicine, the program combines exercise, diet, meditation and group therapy to help people learn techniques to more skillfully deal with emotional states that often accompany anxiety and depression.

Participants have an initial consultation with a psychiatrist and individual sessions with a clinical nutritionist and an exercise physiologist.

They meet as a group with a mental health professional weekly for eight weeks.

The program fee is $900. The first session begins in August and is limited to 15 participants. For more information, call 763-236-5629.
