Election filing periods for the cities of Andover, East Bethel, Ham Lake, Nowthen, Oak Grove and St. Francis will be closing at the end of the business day Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Incumbents Sheri Bukkila, 13517 Swallow St. N.W., and Mike Knight, 4660 175th Ave. N.W., have filed for the four-year councilmember seats.
A third council seat is available, but only for two years. The mayor’s two-year seat is also open.
Incumbent Mayor Richard Lawrence, 455 Sims Road N.E., would like to serve another two years.
Ron Koller, 18461 Jackson St. N.E.; Randy Plaisance, 715 192nd Ave. N.E.; and Tom Ronning, 20941 Taylor St. N.E., are candidates for the two four-year councilmember seats now occupied by Councilmembers Bill Boyer and Steve Voss.
Incumbent Councilmembers Gary Kirkeide, 2152 158th Lane N.E., and Tom Johnson, 15125 W. Vermillion Circle N.E., have filled out the necessary paperwork to be on the ballot for the four-year council seats.
Two people have filed for office in Nowthen.
Incumbent Mayor Bill Schulz, 18509 Baugh St., has filed to remain the city’s mayor for another four-year term.
Mary Rainville, 6633 191st Ave. N.W., has filed for one of two open council seats up for grabs Nov. 6. Those four-year council seats are currently held by Orval Leistico and Laurie Olmon, who has said she will not seek re-election.
Two four-year council seats are up for grabs Nov. 6. Scott Lawrence and Kevin Robinson are the incumbents.
Robinson, 21570 Nightingale St., and Weston Rolf, 1107 Sims Road, have both filed for office.
Only three candidate have filed for the three St. Francis City Council seats and the mayor’s position with less than a week to go.
Candidates have filed for the at-large seats currently held by Councilmembers Jeffrey Sandoval, Steve Kane and Tim Brown.
Although there are no candidates yet for the mayor’s four-year term, three candidates filed for the council seats. They are Mike Haggard, 22705 Rum River Blvd. N.W.; Richard Orpen, 2891 234th Lane N.W.; and Jeffrey Sandoval, 5113 238th Ave. N.W.
