Credit union holds school supplies drive

The Anoka Hennepin Credit Union (AHCU) is conducting a school supplies drive at each of its branches through Sept. 29.

All donations will be delivered to teachers in the Anoka-Hennepin, Centennial, Forest Lake and St. Francis school districts.

The vision of Anoka Hennepin Credit Union (AHCU) is to enrich its members’ lives by helping them discover and achieve their dreams according to Jeff Claussen, president/ chief executive officer.

“Due to our original charter, many of our members are teachers or students,” Claussen said.

“We recognize the importance of a quality education which will give our children the foundation needed to help them achieve their dreams.”

Each year, teachers in the local school districts spend hundreds of dollars out-of-pocket on supplies to furnish their classrooms, Claussen said.

They purchase supplies for students who have none, and they also buy supplies for everyday and special use, he said.

“These teachers go above and beyond for the benefit of their students,” Claussen said.

“As a community-based institution, we believe it is important to support the communities we serve.”

Drop-off locations can be found at “Donations will be greatly appreciated,” Claussen said.
