Man dies in head-on crash in Ramsey

A 32-year-old Nowthen man was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision in Ramsey the evening of Aug. 23, according to Ramsey Fire Chief Dean Kapler.

Ramsey Police Chief Jim Way Monday afternoon (Aug. 27) said the victim was Jesse James Peterson.

A four-door sedan that Peterson was driving and a mid-size pick-up truck driven by a 47-year-old Oak Grove man crashed head-on as they were heading in opposite directions on County Road 7 in the area of 178th Lane west of Rum River Central Regional Park, Kapler said. First responders were called to the scene around 11:45 p.m.

A paramedic pronounced Peterson dead at the scene, Kapler said. The Oak Grove man was “conscious and alert.” An ambulance transported him to Mercy Hospital.

Kapler said the Minnesota State Patrol did a full accident reconstruction and the incident is still under investigation.

County Road 7 in this area makes an “S-curve” and the speed limit is 55 mph, he said.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Francis Police Department assisted the Ramsey fire and police departments at the scene.
