Two area teens selected for England playwright collaboration

Two teen artists from Anoka County have been selected for an international play-writing collaboration.

Abby Olson, an incoming junior at St. Francis High School, and Michael Voit of Blaine High School, an incoming senior, are two of six Minnesota students who will write a play centering on bullying, which will be showcased on the main stage at SteppingStone Theatre in St. Paul. It will later be presented in England.

The six teens will collaborate with six teens from Transport Theatre in Ellesmere Port, England, to write a 70-minute production.

This is the first time SteppingStone has participated in an international collaboration.

Olson and Voit will meet in workshop sessions under the guidance of a professional playwright throughout the year.

Students from across the pond will communicate via blogs, Skype and Facebook.
