Cardinals eke one out over Blaine, beat Anoka in early season soccer action

After dropping a close one to Park High School on Aug. 23, Coon Rapids boys’ soccer team shut-out Blaine 1-0 in a contest staged at the National Sports Center Aug. 24.

The Cardinals Vernon Hachaba scored the game’s only goal, catapulting the Cardinals to victory.

The following day, the Cardinals extended its shut-out stretch, beating Forest Lake 2-0 and marking its early 2012 season with a 2-1 win/loss record.

The win streak extended even further when Coon Rapids beat Anoka 3-2 on Aug. 28.

Blaine, meanwhile, framed its loss to Coon Rapids with two wins of its own, blowing out St. Francis 11-1 on the Saints’ home field Aug. 23 and then shutting out Duluth East 3-0 on Aug. 25. The Bengals’ got a win streak going when it shut-out Andover 1-0 in the Aug. 28 game on Huskie home territory.
