Proposed landfill in Blaine considered by county board

At the Aug. 8 meeting of the Anoka County Board of Commissioners, Chairman Al Kordiak presented a letter from the developers of a proposed landfill in Blaine and a status report regarding the matter was given by county staff.

Commissioner Roy Johnson made motion that the County Board indicated its general approval of the proposed site subject to consideration of proposed changes in the Anoka County Solid Waste Ordinance.

Council okays expansion by slim margin

By a narrow margin, Blaine City Council Thursday approved an expansion plan for a local mobile home park after making several substantive changes in an agreement worked out between city officials and park owners.

On a 4-3 vote, council approved the expansion of UNIPROP’s Park of the Four Seasons mobile home park on University Avenue. The plan will allow UNIPROP to put 60 new homes in the park.

Bike trip through Blaine raises ozone awareness

In general, Willa Scott found Minnesotans to be as friendly and nice as they have been touted. There have been some unpleasantries, however. She was thrown out of the Minnesota Vikings-Buffalo Bills game. She received a cool reception from the governor’s office. And at the recent Clinton-Gore rally, she had her sign torn up by a spectator.
