A series of Tai Chi classes will be offered by Coon Rapids Senior Services at the Coon Rapids Civic Center starting in September.
Instructor Karine Platt will teach both beginner and continuing Tai Chi courses.
According to Platt, Tai Chi is a gentle but invigorating exercise that reduces stress, increases flexibility and provides other health benefits.
The class is geared to seniors and includes stretching, bending, stepping, balancing and an introduction to form.
Participants should wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Continuing Tai Chi classes take place Wednesdays at 3:20 p.m. on Sept. 5, 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10, 24 and 31. There is no class Oct. 17. The cost is $48 with payment due Sept. 5.
Beginner Tai Chi classes, also known as Qigong body movement, are on Mondays at 3:20 p.m. Sept. 10, 17, 24, Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The cost is $48 with payment due by Sept. 5.
