Anoka man sentenced for harassment

A 24-year-old Anoka man will have to serve jail time and probation for harassing a Ramsey woman.

Kyle Trenten McGuire pleaded guilty in Anoka County District Court to repeatedly using the mail to harass the woman and was sentenced to 90 days in Anoka County Jail, one year of probation and a $300 fine.

He will have to serve 60 days in jail with the remaining 30 days stayed for a year.

McGuire had called the woman repeatedly over a two-day period in April and threatened to kill her and her family.

According to police records, McGuire had been arrested March 31 for similar conduct and a protection order had been issued prohibiting contact with the woman.

The woman said she believed McGuire had been driving past her home at all hours of the day and during an April 20 phone call, McGuire had accurately described the vehicles parked in her driveway.

The woman also said McGuire had been in contact with her friends, the father of her children and her family members and threatening to “destroy” her life.

The woman showed officers her cell phone logs and text messages from McGuire.

During one of the known calls, the woman claims McGuire said he was going “slit” her throat.

He threatened to kill her and her family April 21 and told her he would be at her home by 1 p.m.
