Two Texas residents were killed Sept. 1 as they attempted to cross Highway 10 in Ramsey.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office press release, John Nettelfield, 78, and Jean Nettelfield, 71, both of San Antonio, were killed as they attempted to cross against a red light at the intersection of Highway 10 and Sunfish Lake Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.
The couple, who were traveling back to Texas from Canada, was crossing the street from the Willy McCoy’s restaurant back to their room at the Comfort Suites, located across the street, said Commander Paul Sommer.
The pair were struck by a Saturn Vue driven by Cheryl Knoblauch, 34, of Ramsey, who had the green light.
An eastbound Nissan Altima, driven by 27-year-old Ashley Rohwer of Andover, also struck one of the pedestrians who was laying on the ground.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the press release.
The accident is being investigated by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Ramsey Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
