Conversation Circle at library aims to improve English skills

Join the Conversation Circle at the Crooked Lake Library to improve English language skills.

The Conversation Circle provides an opportunity to practice English skills with other learners in a comfortable, relaxed environment and is a way to interact with others in the community and get to know the public library.

“Learning a language is a very difficult and demanding process,” said Anoka County Commissioner Carol LeDoux.

“The opportunity to practice in a relaxed, conversational setting can often mean the difference between just fumbling through and being fluent.”

The Conversation Circle will be meeting this fall on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon from Sept. 8 to Nov. 10.

The Crooked Lake Library is located at 11440 Crooked Lake Blvd. in Coon Rapids.

These informal sessions give new English speakers a chance to practice every day conversational skills and learn new words.

The Conversation Circle is free and open to all. People can come to as many or few sessions as they would like.

“Learning any new language takes practice,” said Anoka County Library Board Vice President Cathy Montain.

“Conversation circles are a welcoming place to practice and improve both speaking and listening skills in English.”

This program is presented in partnership with the Minnesota Literacy Council.
