Fire damaged a Coon Rapids convenience store the evening of Aug. 30.
The fire call from Foley Foods, 10533 Foley Blvd., came in at 8:30 p.m. as smoke coming from the building and the first arriving police officer confirmed smoke in the building.
According to the Coon Rapids Police report, everyone had evacuated the store and there were no injuries.
In addition, smoke was pushing out the eaves of the store and flames coming from a fresh-air intake at the rear of the building, the Coon Rapids Fire Department run report states.
A general alarm was struck and the fire in the rear of the building was knocked down by firefighters, who then ventilated the store.
According to Det. Bryan Eychaner, the police department’s arson investigator who was at the scene investigating the fire with Fire Inspector Nick House, there was nothing suspicious about the fire.
The fire started in a storage room in the rear of the building near an area that contained a compressor and cooling system for the store’s walk-in coolers, Eychaner said.
While the cause of the fire is undetermined, the fire department run report states that a contributing factor was abandoned or discarded materials.
Loss from the fire in property and contents damage was estimated by the fire department at $125,000.
