Cardinal volleyball sweeps Pirates

Coon Rapids swept the Pirates off the Cardinal volleyball court last night, taking the three-set match 25-16, 25-10, 25-18 and taking flight on a two-game winning streak after beating Heritage Christian Academy 20-25, 17-25, 25-22, 19-25 Aug. 29. “We’re getting it done. Things are coming together,” Cardinal Head Coach Scott Arcand said after the Park Center game. Here, Cardinal hitter Hannah Fitzer (19) spikes one past a Pirate leaping at the net in the opening set of last night’s match. Fitzer finished the game with three kill shots at the net while teammate Courtney Pasiowitz led the team with five. Next, the Cardinals host Orono for an 8 a.m. match tomorrow (Saturday) and then welcome Maple Grove to the Cardinal courts on Tuesday. Photo by Bill Jones
