Two arson fires in same Coon Rapids location; public’s help is sought
Two arson fires within a few hours of each other late Sunday night and early Monday morning destroyed property at Creekside Mobile Home Park in Coon Rapids.
The fires were set in a storage area that Creekside residents use to park recreational vehicles (RVs), boats and snowmobiles at the rear of the mobile home park and 101st Avenue and Wintergreen Street N.W.
According to Coon Rapids Fire Marshal Todd Williams, firefighters were called to Creekside around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 16 where a RV, boat and trailer were destroyed by a fire.
About 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17, firefighters responded to another fire in the Creekside storage area where a RV, two snowmobiles, a trailer and a pop up camper were engulfed in flames, Williams said.
The property destroyed by the arson fires belonged to five different residents of the mobile home park, he said.
The fire department is seeking the public’s help in its investigation of the fires, according to Williams.
“We don’t know how they started and what was used to start them,” Williams said.
A $1,000 reward has been offered through the Arson Hot-Line for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those reponsible, he said.
“We believe the same people are responsible for both fires,” Williams said.
The Arson Hot-Line phone number is 1-800-723-2020.
