Anoka-Champlin Meals on Wheels with the support of Truffles & Tortes if giving people the opportunity to do just that Friday, Sept. 28. Dessert First is a special event supporting neighbors served by Anoka-Champlin Meals on Wheels.

“It’s a perfect marriage, taking one of our community’s premier eateries and highlighting the food needs of people within that same community,” said Steve Griffiths, executive director of Anoka-Champlin Meals on Wheels.

“This event highlights the importance of serving people in our community who are in need of a nutritious meal, as well as a daily visit from a caring neighbor to make sure they are OK.”

Dessert First leads off with dessert appetizers from Truffles & Tortes. Last year’s appetizers include chocolate covered strawberries, pecan tartlets and truffle torte squares. After the appetizers, the evening includes dinner, dancing, a silent auction and a wall of wine.

The event is at the Courtyards of Andover at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 and need to be reserved before the event. For more information about the event or to reserve tickets, contact Griffiths at 763-236-8718.

Anoka-Champlin Meals on Wheels provides neighbors with a nutritious meal and a daily wellness check for people at nutritional risk in 17 communities in Anoka and Hennepin counties. For more about its services, visit www.anokachamplinmow.org.
