Celebrating Homecoming in Coon Rapids

Coon Rapids High School celebrated its 2012 Homecoming this week.

A coronation ceremony took place Tuesday morning in the high school fieldhouse.

Crowned Homecoming King and Queen were Ekow Nana-Kweson and Sarina Greskowiak.

Other senior royalty were Paige D’Heilly, Grant Farley, Mariah Saker, David Bucy, Kylea Alleman, Kyle Fleury, Carly Young and Froal Atenu.

There were also ninth-, 10th- and 11th-grade royalty chosen – Ramona Tran and Tanner Tunsky, freshmen; Madison Hagen and Jordan Little, sophomores; and Maggie Milless and Zach Klisch, juniors.

Entertainment was provided by Angie Hoang, Derek McKeever and Tina Tuchten, all singing a song while accompanying themselves on guitar.

Emcees for the coronation were Colten Freund and Taylor Lyons.

Student chairpersons in charge of the coronation were Tina Tuchten and Katianna Carlon, while Emily Owens was the chairperson in charge of royalty.

Other Homecoming week activities included a senior boys’ volleyball tournament Monday, which also included a staff team, and a parade and powder puff game Wednesday,

To get in to watch the movie on the lawn (“Hunger Games”) Thursday on the football practice field, students had to donate a food item to the school’s food shelf.

The Homecoming football game is played this evening (Friday, Sept. 21), 7 p.m., against Champlin-Park High School at Cardinal Stadium.

Activities also included pajama day Monday, dress up day Tuesday, jersey day Wednesday, Hawaiian day Thursday and spirit day Friday.
