Marching bands from all five Anoka-Hennepin High Schools performed their field shows at the District 11 Marching Band Preview Show at Coon Rapids High School on Saturday. The show took place at the high school’s Cardinal Stadium.
The Andover Marching Huskies, in their 10th competitive season, presented “The Last Battlefield.” The movements of the show explored a man versus machine concept. The Huskies performed under the direction of Timothy Hauser.
Anoka’s Marching Tornadoes, directed by Ben Bussy, performed their field show, titled “5K.” Anoka’s show tapped into the competitive spirit and friendly demeanor of a community 5K race.
The Blaine Marching Bengals performed “The Latin Feature,” featuring salsa dancing music and the new age Latin sounds of Santana. The Bengals perform under the direction of Peter Buller.
The Coon Rapids Marching Cardinals returned to the competition after a three-year hiatus. They performed their 2012 show, “When Swing was the Thing.” The show follows the tale of young love lost and found on the dance hall floor in a 1938 jazz club.
The Champlin Park Marching Rebels performed the story of Theseus and the Minotaur in their field show, “Theseus.” The Rebels are directed by Steve Johnson and John Meissner.
