The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office held an open house at its facility in Andover Sept. 12.
Visitors were able to learn more about how the sheriff’s office goes about its day-to-day job of protecting the citizens of Anoka County.
They could see the vehicles and equipment that are used and learn about techniques used to apprehend criminals.
They found out more about the Tri-County Forensics Lab, which is a partnership between Anoka, Sherburne and Wright counties.
In addition to assisting the whole county for various emergency calls, including situations when a dive team, canine or SWAT Team are needed, the sheriff’s office is the primary police department for the communities of Andover, Bethel, Columbus, East Bethel, Ham Lake, Linwood Township, Nowthen and Oak Grove.
The sheriff’s office opened its new building in December 2009 on the east side of Hanson Boulevard in Andover, just north of the Coon Rapids border.
