Blaine man on probation for assault

A Blaine man, who pleaded guilty in Anoka County District Court to a felony charge following assault which left a man with a broken nose, broken ribs and a concussion, has been put on probation for three years.

Jonathan Edward Buhl, 42, 9737 University Ave. N.E., Blaine, entered a guilty plea to a felony third-degree assault charge and at sentencing Sept. 6, he was given credit for 83 days spent in jail.

The late evening of May 10, Blaine Police responded to an address on the 9800 block of University Ave. N.E., where a man, who had blood on his face and arms, reported he had been assaulted by a neighbor, Buhl.

The man told police that the pair got into an argument, which escalated when Buhl punched him the head causing him to fall to the ground, at which point he continued to punch and kick him.

The victim was taken to the hospital where the broken nose, some broken ribs and a concussion were diagnosed.
