League of Women Voters ABC (LWV ABC) will sponsor a forum for candidates for Coon Rapids City Council at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8.
The forum will be take place at the Coon Rapids City Center and will be broadcast later on CTN Cable TV
In the interest of providing voters with information directly from the candidates in their own words, League of Women Voters ABC invited all candidates for wards one and two, and the candidates running at large to appear at the forum.
The two candidates running in Ward 1 are Denise Klint and Chad Newman. Ron Manning and Ken Boelter are the candidates running for Ward 2. Roger Johnson and Steve Wells are the candidates running for the at large seat.
“League of Women Voters ABC has been active in this area for over 70 years,” said Voter Service Co-Chairperson Geri Nelson.
“This forum continues a strong tradition of helping voters obtain information about candidates’ stands on issues.”
Voters can locate candidate information for local, state and federal offices as well as identify their polling place for the Nov. 6 election at the League of Women Voters Minnesota website at www.vote411.org.
The League of Women Voters does not support or oppose any political candidate or party, according to Nelson.
The organization encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy, Nelson said.
Membership is open to men and women of all ages.
