The parade route started by Riverwind Recreation Center and traveled down Northdale Boulevard to the school, where a powder puff game followed.

Grand marshal of the parade was Mike Hardie, a 1985 Coon Rapids High School graduate, who is known as “Red,” and for the past 27 years, he has attended Coon Rapids High School football games, both home and away.

Also participating in the parade were Homecoming King and Queen Ekow Nana-Kweson and Sarina Greskowiak as well as other royalty from ninth-, 10th- , 11th- and 12th-grade classes.

Other Homecoming week events included a senior boys’ volleyball tournament Monday, which featured a staff team, and a movie on the lawn (“Hunger Games”) Thursday on the football practice field, where students had to donate a food item to the school’s food shelf in order to get in and see the movie.

The Homecoming football game was played Friday evening against Champlin-Park High School at Cardinal Stadium.
