Sled dogs will be the topic of the Coon Rapids Senior Services monthly Tea Talk program Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1:30 p.m., at the Coon Rapids City Center.
The speaker is Melonie Shipman, a sometime dog musher and Iditarod volunteer.
Shipman will share facts and stories about the history of sled dogs, adaptations, lifestyles and dog sledding as a challenging winter sport.
She will provide an insider’s perspective on what it means for the mushers, the volunteers and the sled dogs who run over a thousand miles, dodging blizzards, moose and exhaustion.
Refreshments will be served following the presentation. The cost is $3.
