A 27-year-old Oak Grove man has been charged with felony domestic assault and terroristic threats.
Cody John Westphall was arraigned Sept. 27 in Anoka County District Court on domestic assault by strangulation and terroristic threats counts following a Sept. 26 incident at his home.
According to the complaint, a woman called 911 around 9 p.m. to report Westphall had threatened to kill her and strangled her until she passed out.
The woman alleged that Westphall was very intoxicated and passed out in one of the bedrooms and after attempting to wake him with no success, she went outside to feed the animals.
With the chores done, she returned to the house, checked on the still sleeping Westphall and then turned on the television.
Once she turned on the television, Westphall awakened, allegedly became upset and began throwing things in the bedroom.
When the woman told Westphall that she was calling the police, he allegedly said “I will give you a reason to call” and pushed her down the stairs.
Westphall allegedly jumped on her and began punching her in the back, then grabbed her by the throat and choked her until she blacked out.
According to the woman, he said he was going to kill her.
