The Coon Rapids High School (CRHS) Gospel Choir Club sang the national anthem at a large gathering at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The audience of 900 included Gov. Mark Dayton, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Sen. Al Franken, members of Congress John Kline, Collin Peterson and Michele Bachmann, and leaders of Minnesota’s largest corporations.

The Minnesota Business Partnership is headed by Charlie Weaver, a former state representative from Anoka.

After the students performed, they were greeted back stage by Dayton.

The governor said they were a “very talented group” and shook hands with some students.

Ekow Nana Kweson, a founding member of the club, said it was a good experience and the students are grateful for every performance they have.

Although they were in front of a high-powered crowd, Nana Kweson and the other members of the club were not nervous.

“I can safely say we had comfort in each other,” he said.
