Blaine City Hall is gearing up for its annual Northern Showcase this month featuring Artists del Norte members and area artists as part of the city’s monthly exhibitions.
Nineteen artists will exhibit 45 pieces of artwork in this open and juried show. Subjects range from animals to florals to nature scenes.
The show opens Nov. 3 and runs through Nov. 30. An awards reception will take place Saturday, Nov. 17, 2 to 4 p.m., in the city hall atrium. Refreshments will be served. The reception and art show are free. The public is invited.
“It’s a great exhibit of the artists in the area,” said Bonnie Elkerton, coordinator of the event and Artists del Norte member. “I think this year we’ve got a great variety of work.”
The artists draw mainly from the north metro and greater Twin Cities area to as far as St. Cloud. Acrylics, photos, pastels, colored pencil and encaustic wax artworks will be exhibited.
Artist Susan Fryer-Voigt, who has a studio in Northrup King Studios in Minneapolis, will serve as judge for the show.
Art items will be on sale with prices ranging anywhere from $100 to $600, according to Elkerton.
“We do get a lot of top-notch art in November from this show,” said Tom Godfrey, program supervisor for Blaine’s park and recreation department:
Artists del Norte has been bringing area artists together to show their works since 1976. For more information about the group, visit www.artistsdelnorte.org. For more information about the Blaine exhibit, call Elkerton at 651-784-6118.
