A 31-year-old Nowthen man was sentenced Oct. 3 in Anoka County District for a gross misdemeanor domestic assault conviction.
Joshua Adam Steinke had served 32 days in jail already for this crime. He was not ordered to serve any more time behind bars, but he was placed on two years probation. One of the terms of probation is that he must go through anger management classes.
Steinke must also pay a $185 court fine or perform community service.
According to the criminal complaint, Steinke brought another man to the ground during a physical altercation on Dec. 3, 2011. Steinke sat on this man’s back and the victim got a bloody nose during the altercation.
The victim had also reported that Steinke put his arm around his neck, but Steinke told police he did not intend to choke him, according to the complaint.
A felony domestic assault by strangulation charge originally brought by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office was dismissed, according to court records.
