Rise, Inc. honored Rep. Jim Abeler (R-Anoka) as its 2012 Community Partner of the Year at its annual event, Celebrate Rise!, held Oct. 11 at International Market Square in Minneapolis with 450 people in attendance.
Rise’s Vice President Lynn Noren said, “As chair of the Minnesota House of Representatives’ Health Care and Human Services Finance Division, Rep. Abeler played a key role in this past year’s challenging legislative session. He led the way in grappling with how to best balance the need for critical services with available financial resources. At risk were several programs that help people live meaningful, self-determined lives in their own communities, including many services offered by Rise.
“Rep. Abeler made sure that he and other legislators were well-educated on the complex issues facing Minnesotans with disabilities and other barriers so they were able to make informed decisions on programs and funding. We applaud his leadership, vision and determination to make life better for all Minnesotans.”
