East Bethel has two new councilmembers, same mayor

While East Bethel will have the same mayor for the next two years, two new members will join the East Bethel City Council.

Both races were well contested. Mayor Richard Lawrence received 2,775 votes, while his challenger Tanner Balfany tallied 2,248 votes. Only 47 people wrote in another name.

This will be Lawrence’s second term as mayor on the council. He had defeated the incumbent Greg Hunter in the 2010 election.

There were two four-year seats open on council because incumbents Bill Boyer and Steve Voss chose not to run for re-election.

Tom Ronning received the most votes for the councilmember race with 2,037 people voting for him. Ron Koller earned 1,847 votes. This will be their first terms on the city council.

Randy Plaisance (1,784 votes) and Brian Mundle (1,723 votes) came in third and fourth, respectively.
