The Anoka/Washington County Head Start has openings in its preschool programs.
Head Start is a free comprehensive preschool program for lower income families.
It provides educational, health, nutrition and social service assistance to children and their families who are income eligible.
Families of children birth to five years old must meet income guidelines to qualify.
Any families enrolled in the MFIP program, receiving Supplemental Social Security (SSI) and foster children are eligible even if their annual income is higher than the current guidelines.
Head Start locations in Anoka County are in Anoka, Cedar, Coon Rapids and Columbia Heights.
Program options include part day/part year, home base, full day/full year and early Head Start.
There is also a home visiting program for pregnant women with children birth to age five, during which learning activities are provided.
In addition, the children attend two half-day socialization sessions a month.
Applications are accepted all year and services are available for children with special needs.
