Giovanni Sanchez, a sophomore at Blaine High School, recently took part in the West Point Society of Minnesota Student Leadership Seminar at the University of St. Thomas Law School.
The purpose of this seminar was to provide a leadership experience for high school students and faculty that was both exciting and memorable, a learning experience they would find useful for the rest of their life.
The conference provided a perspective on respect, ethics and leadership. Small groups, led by Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) and West Point cadets, discussed vignettes involving real-life ethical dilemmas. The small groups were diversified, giving students an opportunity to get feedback from high school students across Minnesota.
At the completion of the day, students made presentations on leadership and ethics using what they had learned during the conference.
