Acclaimed documentary to be shown at Anoka-Ramsey

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Counseling Department, in cooperation with the Sexual Assault Action Team of Anoka County, is presenting a screening of the nationally-acclaimed documentary “Miss Representation” Tuesday, Nov. 27, 6:30 to 9 p.m., in the Performing Arts Center, 11200 Mississippi Blvd. N.W., Coon Rapids.

This is a free event to the college and community. Refreshments are available.

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newson, the film exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.

The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful.

Following the viewing, the audience will be invited to discuss a variety of issues relating to the video’s content.
