Man sentenced for Ham Lake break-in

A 27-year-old Little Canada man was sentenced Nov. 6 in Anoka County District Court to four years and four months in prison on a felony burglary conviction.

Leewill Garfield Jones pleaded guilty to a first-degree burglary charge Oct. 9.

According to the criminal complaint, a Ham Lake homeowner in the 1100 block of 143rd Avenue heard a knock on the door while in the shower during the late morning hours of Sept. 13. When she went to answer the door, Jones kicked it in.

Jones walked about six feet into her home and then turned and ran outside the door. He got into a car that drove away.

Police later apprehended Jones and the homeowner positively identified him as the burglar.

Jones must also pay $1,000 restitution to the victim, which will be taken from prison wages.
