Wisconsin woman dies in Anoka crash

A second traffic fatality in Anoka in two days occurred yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, Nov. 27).

Anoka Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 38th Avenue and Bunker Lake Boulevard shortly before 3 p.m. where they found a 66-year-old woman from Hudson, Wis., who was one of the drivers, dead at the scene.

She was driving a sedan east by southeast on Bunker Lake Boulevard and tried to make a U-turn in the middle of the road near 38th Avenue, according to an Anoka County Sheriff’s Office press release.

In making the U-turn, the woman drove directly into the path of a sport utility vehicle being driven by a  17-year-old girl and the vehicles collided, the press release states.

The girl and the passenger in their vehicle were taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries,

The accident is under investigation by the Anoka Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
