Funds granted so SLP softball team

Robert DeWolfe said it bothered him when he found out high school age girls living in Spring Lake Park would travel as far away as Golden Valley to play fast pitch softball in the summer.

DeWolfe’s solution to the problem. Get Spring Lake Park to help support a girl’s fast pitch team in the metropolitan area summer league.

As DeWolfe sees it, the girl’s benefit because they play on a team closer to home, Spring Lake Park High School benefits because potential players get experience and the city benefits through public relations.

Blaine again

It comes with the territory of winning championships, and during the past two seasons, this program has collected titles. There have been two Twin Cities Suburban Conference and two Section 4AA championships.

In addition there has been a consistently high ranking. Since the program’s rise to prominence, seldom has Blaine been ranked out of the state’s top 10, and it frequently is rated among the top five.
