The Copper Street Brass Quintet combines forces with Anoka High School bands to present a holiday concert “Christmas on Copper Street.”
The concert will be performed Tuesday, Dec. 4, 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. The concert is at Anoka High School Auditorium, 3939 Seventh Ave., Anoka.
Expect a unique music experience in this performance. Both groups, the high school band and CSBQ perform on their own and, then, ensemble in a large-brass performance of familiar Christmas carols.
For the concert’s grand finale, the groups join to play a brand new work “Winter in Buenos Aires” by tango composer Astor Piazzolla, arranged by CSBQ horn-player Timothy Bradley.
Hear uplifting classics of the season to family favorites.
“It’s really going to be fun holiday music from ‘The Nutcracker’ to ‘The Grinch,’” said Bradley.
CSBQ plans to workshop with Anoka High School band members during the school day before the evening concert.
John Lace is band director at the high school.
CSBQ is a non-profit, with a mission to enrich communities through public performances, to engage students of all levels through educational residencies and to create new musical arrangements ranging from classical to rock.
The brass quintet has performed at such venues as Orchestra Hall, the Schubert Club and the Minnesota State Fair. It has made appearances throughout the state and the upper Midwest.
