An ordinance amendment allowing used car sales in CD-1 zoning districts in Ham Lake has been given first reading by the Ham Lake City Council.
“This is almost verbatim what we wanted to do,” said Mayor Mike Van Kirk. “I’m completely in favor of it.”
The amendment adds used car sales as a conditional use for existing businesses in the automobile industry located in CD-1 zoning.
These existing businesses include automobile specialty shops, automobile repair facilities, recreational vehicle sales and new car sales lots.
Under the revised ordinance, the city may limit the number of vehicles for sale on the property and require screening and other items as part of approval.
A second reading of the ordinance amendment is set for December.
