Andover’s five-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as the Huskies (7-3-0) fell to Eden Prairie 5-4 in its Northwest Suburban Conference-Lake Conference crossover game.
Eagles Josie Olson scored late in the first period to give the visitors the edge of confidence heading into the first intermission. Just over two minutes into the second period it was Andover’s Mikayla Goodin who tied the game with a power play goal, set up by McKenzie Aguilar. Eden Prairie responded with two goals, 42 seconds apart. Goodin scored her second goal of the period at the 16:10 mark of the period to set up an intense final 17 minutes of play.
Goodin completed the hat trick just 2:05 into the final period as the goals went back and fourth. Goodin’s third goal made it 3-2 for Anodver. After the Eagles made it 4-3 at the 8:20 mark, Carly Haskins tied the game at the 13:17 mark.
Eden Prairie’s Allison Koloski scored the game-winner about 90 seconds later, with just 2:06 left in regulation.
Ninth-grade Huskies goalie Maddie Rooney stopped 28 shots to drop her record to 7-3-0 overall. She still has a 1.60 goals against average and a .926 saves percentage.
