St. Francis gymnastics won its first meet of the season Thursday night at Irondale/Spring Lake Park 131.25-127.675.
The North Suburban Conference opener was highlighted by Saints Natalie Wasche scoring 34.05 points to place second in the all-around with four excellent scores led by an 8.85 on the Beam, 8.6 on the Floor Exercise, 8.5 on the Vault and 8.1 Uneven Bars. Teammate Katie Bownik placed fourth in the all-around with a score of 33.275 points, highlighted by a team-high 8.6 on the bars followed by an 8.9 on the floor. Mackenzie Walsh led the team on the floor with a 9.00 and Celine Eide scored 32.025 in the all-around led by a team-high 8.525 on the vault.
St. Francis opened the season with losses in a triangular meet to Elk River/Zimmerman and Buffalo Dec. 4. The Saints scored 123.1 points while the Elks scored 126.175 points and Buffalo scored 124.075 points.
