More than four dozen youngsters – members of the school readiness program offered at Coon Rapids High School – collected some 150 food items to help stock the shelves at the high school’s food shelf.
The preschoolers in Lori Onstad’s classes delivered those items and toured the food shelf Dec. 6.
“It’s just so neat to see (the preschoolers) get so excited about doing something to help someone in need. It teaches them that it doesn’t matter how little they are, they can help, too,” said Onstad’s fellow preschool teacher Cathy Herzog as the little ones giggled and hurried up stairs, each carrying a box or can or bag of non-perishable food to be placed on the shelf.
