Legion Auxiliary supports gift shop

Anoka Edward B. Cutter Post 102 American Legion Auxiliary members worked at the Minneapolis Veterans Nursing Home’s annual gift shop program on Dec. 5.

From its beginning in 1932, the American Legion Auxiliary has provided this service to hospitalized veterans, as well as those living at the VA Home. The Minnesota American Legion Auxiliary takes great pride in having the first auxiliary gift shop program in the country.

During the first years of this program the auxiliary units throughout the state furnished all of the gifts given to each veteran and family members.

Now the auxiliary units, Legion and Sons of the American Legion squadrons, along with many individuals, donate funds for this program. The holiday season is a good time to remember and thank our veterans, MIA-POW, service men and women and those who gave their lives to keep the country free.
