Thrivent donates to local food shelves

The Anoka County Chapter 30099 of Thrivent Financial for Lutheran has donated money with grants throughout this year totaling some $1,400 to each of the following five Anoka County food shelves: ACBC in Anoka, CEAP in Blaine, NACE in East Bethel, SACA in Columbia Heights and Centennial in Circle Pines.

This chapter also held a fund-raiser movie event in November, which collected food donations that was also donated to the local food shelves in Anoka County.

Additionally, the chapter made 88 grants totaling $66,008 to Anoka County area individuals and non-profit groups to be used for humanitarian or community development purposes, including Alexandra House, Free2B!, Lee Carlson Center and Family Promise.

The Anoka chapter members held more than 12 events in the area to bring people together for fun, education and helping others. For example, the chapter hosted a trip to a Twins game, held financial workshops, hosted a night on the Paddleford and much more.
